NERO at IEEE EDUCON 2026 - Special session on Education and Training in Cybersecurity for Professionals
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kitty Kioskli from Trustilio and Dr. Thodoris Karvounidis from the University of Piraeus Research Centre will be representing the NERO project as co-chairs of the Special Session on “Education and Training in Cybersecurity for Professionals” at the IEEE Global Engineering Education Conference (EDUCON 2026).
This session aims to address one of today’s most pressing challenges in Europe’s digital transformation, the need to build cybersecurity knowledge, skills, and resilience among professionals across diverse sectors. Cybersecurity is no longer confined to computer science or electrical engineering; it touches every field where digital technologies play a role. From protecting data and ensuring compliance to managing human and organisational risks, professionals require both technical competencies and practical understanding to safeguard digital infrastructures.
This Special Session will bring together researchers, educators, and practitioners to share insights, methodologies, and best practices that enhance cybersecurity education and professional training. Participants will discuss innovative approaches to teaching cybersecurity, the use of practical simulation environments, and strategies to align training programmes with industry and policy needs.
