AKTANTIS
Brief Introduction
Starting in December 2024, Pôle SCS (Secured Communicating Solutions) becomes AKTANTIS, following the merger of the SCS and Optitec clusters. The name AKTANTIS reflects the cluster’s mission: to guide and orient its members in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, much like the star Sigma Octantis, a fixed reference point in the southern sky.
This new identity embodies the cluster’s expanding geographical reach and technological scope. Spanning the French regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie, AKTANTIS brings together the full spectrum of deeptech technologies, including microelectronics, artificial intelligence and data analytics, IoT, digital and cybersecurity, as well as photonics and imaging. AKTANTIS’s growth is driven by the innovation capacity and development potential of its more than 300 member organisations.
Research Expertise and Strengths
AKTANTIS, formerly known as Pôle SCS (founded in 2005), is a digital innovation cluster based in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (Sud) region of France. It brings together more than 300 members, including companies—70% of which are SMEs—as well as research centres and higher-education institutions.
As AKTANTIS enters a new phase, its core mission remains unchanged. By strengthening support for its members and accelerating their development, AKTANTIS is committed to fostering the continued growth of a leading deeptech ecosystem in Southern France, spanning the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie regions, with strong expertise across the following five key areas:
- Microelectronics
- IoT
- Big Data & Artificial Intelligence
- Digital Security
- Photonics & Imagery
The cluster promotes the development of competitive R&D projects among all members, with the support of local communities, to design and develop new solutions targeting high-growth markets, including IoT, smart cities, smart homes, smart buildings, smart grids, Industry 4.0, logistics and transport, and e-health. It also aims to contribute to the creation of an appropriate ecosystem for the overall regional ICT landscape, especially through the development of SMEs. SCS is also offering numerous services and products to its members, including access to technologies, various platforms and expertise and is promoting digital innovation to foster growth and employment in specific growing markets.
Role in NERO
With its expertise and the cybersecurity skills and knowledge of its members, AKTANTIS will contribute to several tasks, such as market analysis, the definition of the use cases and to the evaluation of the technologies of the cybersecurity tools. AKTANTIS will also participate in the dissemination of the training courses and use cases to SMEs.
