NERO Participation in the Cyber Awareness & Upskilling SMEs Webinar

The NERO Cybersecurity project participated in the Cyber Awareness for SMEs: Challenges & Practical Approaches webinar, contributing to the discussion on strengthening cybersecurity awareness and resilience across SMEs.

The webinar, organised by the CyberSuite project, took place on 12 May 2026 from 10:00 to 11:30 CEST, bringing together experts, projects, and key stakeholders dedicated to strengthening cybersecurity awareness, resilience, and digital skills among SMEs across Europe.

During the session, Charalambos Klitis from eBOS delivered a presentation titled “Cyber Awareness for SMEs: Challenges & Practical Approaches (NERO Perspective)”, highlighting key challenges faced by SMEs and sharing practical insights and approaches developed within the NERO project.

The presentation introduced key cybersecurity challenges for SMEs and practical ways to address them. It highlighted common threats such as phishing, ransomware, and insider attacks, emphasising the human factor as the weakest link. Core principles such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, and zero trust were explained, along with EU frameworks, including GDPR and NIS2. The session concluded with practical recommendations such as awareness training, strong authentication, and regular system updates.

Through its participation, NERO continues to support SMEs with tools, training, and practical approaches to improve cybersecurity readiness and compliance.
